2 simple steps to restrict users to view and edit SharePoint 2010 list items created by them

Many times user has to be restricted to view and edit list items which are created by them.

One way to do this to edit the view and add filter on Created By to [Me], we might have to do this on each view and what if we’ve to allow some users to view and edit items created by others then we’ll have to replicate the same view with different filters to users who can view and edit all.

Now there is another simpler way by which we can apply the same restriction to all views and also allow certain users to view and edit all items by simply giving them full control permission on the list.

To apply this restriction, simple go to List settings and then Advance Settings, change item-level permissions as below screen shot and yep it’s done.
